Cristiano Ronaldo says he wants retire
at Real Madrid and continue playing
until he is at least 40 years old, Sky
Sports reports.
The superstar striker scored the
winning penalty against Atletico Madrid
to lift an unprecedented 11th European
trophy for Los Blancos.
With the transfer window opening
next week, rumours have continued to
swirl that the Portugal international will
leave the Bernabeu, being linked to
Manchester United and Paris St
Germain.
However, reports in Spain say Real
Madrid will look to extend his contract,
and Ronaldo himself has said he
wishes to remain at the club for the
rest of his career.
“I am going to retire at Real Madrid at
more than 40 years of age. I am very
happy here and I work hard to achieve
that,” he told AS.
The striker will now join up with the
Portugal squad ahead of Euro 2016
after he was rested following his
Champions League exertions as the
national side lost 1-0 to England in a
friendly warm-up game on Thursday.
But ever confident, Ronaldo is already
looking ahead to the tournament and
is hoping to bring more silverware
back to his home country.
“I’m super happy to win the eleventh
and now I’m already thinking about the
Euros,” he told to the Spanish
publication.
“We want to give a great joy to
Portugal (by) winning it, which is
something that the Portuguese people
deserve.”
